FAQ
What is Nylon Turf?
Nylon is a premium turf fiber with a higher melting point than the Poly used in most budget mats. It resists the heat from club strikes, so it won’t streak your clubs, and it holds up better to sun, weather, and heavy use.
Super Tee or Fairway: Which Mat Is Right for You?
Fairway golf mats are designed for hitting directly off the turf. The short 3/8" Nylon pile gives you a tight, fairway-style lie, which makes it a good fit for iron and wedge shots, chipping, and short game practice. Fairway mats don’t hold wooden tees, so driver practice requires a rubber tee, which is included on mats with pre-punched tee holes.
What’s the difference between the 5mm foam, 5/8" foam, and urethane backings?
- 5/8" closed-cell foam is our most cushioned Fairway backing. It’s shock-absorbent, waterproof, and slip-resistant, and it helps cushion impact on every swing. It’s heavier, which helps keep the mat settled for permanent setups in garages, basements, and simulator rooms.
- 5mm flexible foam is a thinner, lighter backing. It’s slip-resistant, offers some anti-fatigue cushioning, and rolls up easily for storage. It’s a good middle ground for home practice.
- Urethane coating is a thin, durable coating about the thickness of a credit card. It’s the lightest option, rolls up easily, and isn’t damaged by water, which makes it a good fit for outdoor use. It doesn’t grip like foam, so stake or tape it down on smooth floors.
Why choose All Turf Mats?
We make our own turf from yarn made by Lex Lawn, right here in Dalton, Georgia. Buying factory-direct means no middleman and honest pricing on commercial-grade Nylon, with FREE Shipping on every mat.
Can I use real wooden tees on a Fairway mat?
No. Fairway mats use a tight 3/8" Nylon turf built for hitting directly off the surface, so they only work with rubber tees. If you want to use real wooden tees, choose a Super Tee Golf Mat. Its 1" Nylon turf holds wooden tees like a tee box.
Why not a cheaper mat?
Cheaper mats often use Poly turf, which wears out much faster and will streak your clubs leaving green film. Ours is commercial-grade Nylon built in house to last for seasons.
How does a Fairway mat feel compared to real grass?
A Fairway mat gives you a tighter, fairway-style lie that rewards clean contact, so you can practice hitting directly off the turf with irons, wedges, and fairway woods. The 3/8" commercial-grade Nylon turf is residue-free and won’t leave green streaks on your clubs. If you want a longer, rougher lie to practice imperfect shots, our First Cut Golf Mats simulate the rough.
