FAQ

What is Nylon Turf?

Nylon is a premium turf fiber with a higher melting point than the Poly used in most budget mats. It resists the heat from club strikes, so it won’t streak your clubs, and it holds up better to sun, weather, and heavy use.

How heavy is a Proball hitting mat?

Weight depends on the backing. Our 6 x 12 foam-backed Nylon mats weigh 56 to 61 lbs, and the urethane-backed versions weigh 28 to 30 lbs. Because the foam versions are over 50 lbs, we recommend two people for moving or carrying one. Every Proball hitting mat can be rolled for transport or storage.

How durable is the 5mm foam backing?

The 5mm foam is a flexible, padded backing that rolls up for storage or transport and adds weight and grip texture that help the mat resist sliding, wrinkling, and bunching during active footwork. It’s our preferred backing for indoor cages, garages, basements, and gym floors, where the mat is loose-laid on a flat surface and stays put. Durability on the turf side comes from the Nylon face, which is cleat-resistant, UV-resistant, and built for frequent practice, so pairing Nylon with foam gives you the longest-lasting Proball configuration for high-volume use. The mat can be cleaned with a hose or pressure washer, and it should be unrolled and given 24 to 48 hours to flatten after shipping.

Why choose All Turf Mats?

We make our own turf from yarn made by Lex Lawn, right here in Dalton, Georgia. Buying factory-direct means no middleman and honest pricing on commercial-grade Nylon, with FREE Shipping on every mat.

Will the mat slide?

Foam-backed Proball mats are our recommended backing for most setups. The 5mm foam is slip-resistant and adds weight and grip texture that help the mat resist sliding, wrinkling, and bunching during active footwork, so it can be loose-laid on a flat surface. It’s the preferred choice for indoor cages, garages, basements, gym floors, and polished concrete. Urethane-backed mats are the lighter, economy option and are better suited to rough outdoor surfaces like asphalt, packed dirt, or grass, where staking, gluing, or taping helps hold them in place. On slick indoor floors, urethane can slide under batter footwork, so we recommend foam. Mat size, floor condition, and how hard you swing and step all affect movement.

Why not a cheaper mat?

Cheaper mats often use Poly turf, which wears out much faster and will streak your clubs leaving green film. Ours is commercial-grade Nylon built in house to last for seasons.

Are Proball mats cleat-resistant?

Our Nylon Proball hitting mats are cleat-resistant. Nylon holds up to cleat wear better than Poly and is also more UV-resistant, weather-resistant, and heat-resistant, which is why we recommend it for frequent practice, schools, and facilities. Poly (the 502 series) is our economy option, better for recreational or lower-frequency use.

Others vs Ours

Most hitting mats on the market are made with Poly turf. Under constant cleat and turf shoe friction, Poly wears down quickly and often needs replacing every season. Our Nylon Proball mats are cleat-resistant and built to hold up in high-traffic use, season after season. Poly mats may look the same at the beginning, but after a few months of usage, they look very different.

6x12 Proball Baseball Hitting Mat in Clay Nylon with Painted Plate

The clay Proball Baseball Hitting Mat with a painted plate brings an infield batter's box look to your setup, with commercial-grade Nylon turf that resists cleat wear, at a lower price than the inlaid version. Its 5mm foam backing keeps the mat settled on garage slabs, basement floors, and home cage surfaces.

Built for Baseball Training

  • Regulation 6x12 batting mat with batter's box lines tufted directly into the turf.
  • Clay-colored Nylon turf with a 3/8" pile. It's cleat, UV, and weather resistant, and more heat resistant than poly.
  • Built to outlast poly mats under regular use. Here's what to know before buying a baseball practice mat.

Spray-Painted Home Plate

This model's home plate is spray-painted onto the turf, our economy configuration. It's a good fit for home and lower-volume practice, though it will show wear over time in high-traffic settings.

Flexible 5mm Foam Backing

  • Slip-resistant, with extra weight and grip texture that help the mat stay flat as hitters load and stride.
  • Preferred for home setups on garage slabs, basement floors, and indoor cage surfaces.
  • Some anti-fatigue cushioning underfoot, and rollable for storage.

Good to Know

  • Weighs about 59 lbs, so two people are recommended for moving it.
  • Ships rolled with FREE Shipping. Allow 24 to 48 hours for it to fully flatten.
  • Clean it with a hose or pressure washer.
  • Want a portable plate too? Add a Throw Down Home Plate.
  • Made in Dalton, Georgia, sold factory-direct, and covered by our 3-Year Limited Warranty.

Build Out Your Station

Add a Proball stance mat, a catcher's extension mat, or a 5ft on-deck circle with 5mm foam backing. For heavier traffic, see the clay inlaid plate version, or save with the clay Poly painted plate version. Also available as the clay Proball Softball Hitting Mat.
