How Black Creek Club Upgraded Their Driving Range with All Turf Mats

When one of Chattanooga's most prestigious private clubs needed to replace a full range of worn-out poly mats, they called All Turf Mats. Here is how the project came together — and why they chose the Super Tee.

By the All Turf Mats product team  ·  July 2026  ·  Chattanooga, Tennessee

Black Creek Club sits in the hills south of Chattanooga with views of Lookout Mountain and a course that has been one of Tennessee's most respected private clubs for years. When the club began a significant renovation of its grounds and facilities, the driving range was one of the first things on the list — and the condition of the existing mats made that an easy decision.

When the All Turf Mats team arrived on-site, the existing poly mats were already past the point of serviceable use. Worn through, breaking down at the surface, and doing nothing to represent the standard the club holds itself to. The replacement needed to match the quality of everything else Black Creek was building.

The scope covered two distinct areas of the facility — 12 mats on the upper range and 8 on the lower. Both sections were surrounded by HeatMaxx 47 turf from Go Green Synthetic Turf — All Turf Mats' sister company — which tied the entire range together into a clean, professional-grade practice surface that looks as good as it performs.

Why the Super Tee Was the Right Mat for Black Creek

Choosing a commercial golf mat for a private club is not the same decision as buying a mat for a backyard setup. The mat needs to perform day after day under a wide range of golfers — members hitting irons, seniors wanting comfort underfoot, scratch players demanding realistic ball contact, and anyone who wants to pull out a real wooden tee to work on their driver.

The Super Tee checks every one of those boxes. It is the only mat in the All Turf Mats lineup that holds a real wooden tee — the 1 inch Nylon face pile is deep enough to insert a standard wooden tee at a natural height, giving members the exact same tee-box experience they would get on the first tee of any course. That detail matters at a club like Black Creek where members expect a premium experience even on the range.

🌿
Nylon Over Poly

The previous mats were Poly and were destroyed on arrival. Nylon has a higher melting point and handles the friction heat of daily ball striking without breaking down at the surface. Multi-season durability with no residue on clubs.

🏌️
Real Wooden Tee Capability

The only commercial golf mat that holds a real wooden tee. Members who want to work on their driver get a genuine tee-box experience — not a rubber substitute.

💪
Shock-Absorbent Foam

The 5/8 closed-cell foam backing cushions impact for long practice sessions. Waterproof, slip-resistant, and heavy enough to stay planted without moving underfoot.

The HeatMaxx 47 Surround — Why It Made the Difference

A driving range mat installation is only as good as what surrounds it. Dropping commercial-grade mats into a patchy or deteriorating grass range undermines the entire look and feel of the project. At Black Creek, the decision to pair the Super Tee mats with HeatMaxx 47 from Go Green Synthetic Turf was what elevated the installation from a mat replacement to a complete range upgrade.

HeatMaxx 47 is a premium synthetic turf designed specifically for high-traffic outdoor environments where temperature management and long-term appearance matter. It fills the space between and around each hitting mat, creating a seamless, professional surface across the entire range. The result looks like a purpose-built practice facility — not a collection of mats dropped on grass.

Go Green Synthetic Turf

All Turf Mats and Go Green Synthetic Turf are sister companies. For full commercial range installations that include both hitting mats and surrounding turf, we can supply the complete package — from the mat you stand on to the surface that frames it.

What This Looks Like for Your Facility

The Black Creek installation is a blueprint for any golf club, country club, or driving range looking to replace aging poly mats with a commercial-grade Nylon surface that will hold up through years of daily use. The combination of the Super Tee mat and HeatMaxx 47 surround turf delivers a finished look that matches the investment.

Every driving range is different — number of stations, surface conditions, budget, and whether the installation is in-ground or surface-laid all affect the scope.
